My soft sculpture dolls are my response to the sexism inherent in the anime – and greater nerd – industries. These industries rarely cater to women or marginalized populations, and when they do there is an outcry against it. When I discovered I could not buy what I wanted, I responded by developing my own doll pattern and crafted the characters that did not appeal to the male gaze using soft materials and a cute aesthetic.
